The OWE program is for students who want on-the-job training while still in high school. Skills will be acquired that will, hopefully, help throughout the students' lives. It is required that the students attain and keep a job for the duration of the program. Students' should work with the teacher to help gain appropriate employment. Any student who misses school regularly or who does not attain a job within two weeks will return to a regular schedule of courses for the entire school day. If any students is fired from their job or quits the job, he has two weeks to obtain other employment or they will be placed into a full day schedule and will earn an F for that quarter in the OWE Work Study Class. A student may lose a job one time only during the school year, rather than going back and forth from an OWE schedule to full-time classes. Students are responsible for their own transportation, and attendance is mandatory. Topics covered in both classes include: the importance of an education, personal budgeting, money and banking, how to apply for and obtain a job, and what employers are seeking in employees. Time is also spent discussing problems on discussing problems on the job and those that may arise later in life. All jobs must be approved by the coordinator. Grades will be decided by work done in class and appraisals by the work supervisor. Students and their parents/guardians will be required to sign a program agreement form.

ALL OWE students must sign up for OWE which will give them two credits for WORK STUDY and one credit for RELATED [for a total of three credits].
