Spanish Classes

Spanish I

Good memorization skills are crucial in order to do well in this class. Emphasis is on proper grammar and correct spelling in the Spanish language. Because of this, students need to have good English grammar skills in order to understand and make use of the corresponding grammar rules in Spanish. Excellent attendance and study skills are necessary for anyone taking this course. There will be frequent homework assignments and quizzes to help students master the material being covered.

 

Spanish II

Students will advance their knowledge of Spanish by learning several verb tenses, grammar structures, and vocabulary. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills will be expanded as the student progresses through this level. The ability to memorize and utilize information is crucial. Excellent attendance and study skills are necessary for a student to do well in this class.

Spanish III

Students will begin techniques of translating stories, tales, and documents. Previously learned verb tenses and grammar structures will be put to the test in this class. Writing will be stressed in Spanish III and speaking will continue to be improved upon. Again, excellent attendance and study skills are a must for this class.

French Classes

French I

The student will develop basic speaking, listening, reading and writing skills related to everyday skills related to everyday life in a French-speaking country. the student will gain an awareness of contemporary life in France and the francophone world. Regular attendance is required for success in this course. Classroom participation is required.

French II

This class will further the student's ability to function in everyday situations in the French-speaking world. Students will increase their proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing, and will gain a deeper understanding of the culture of the French-speaking world. Classroom participation and good attendance are expected.

French III

This class will develop increasingly complex speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, with communication as the ultimate goal. Students will further develop an appreciation and understanding of the cultures of French-speaking countries. Classroom participation and good attendance are expected.

French IV

This class is a continuation of French III. The student will continue to develop communication skills through more complex reading, writing, listening and speaking activities. Students will analyze, compare and discuss the cultural norms of French-speaking countries. There will be frequent homework and quizzes, as well as chapter tests. Classroom participation and good attendance are expected.
